The mines of Cerro, soon to go into operation

The Minister for the Environment, Jose Juan Diaz Trillo, stressed the commitment of the board for the taking off of mining in the province.

The company PTQ will soon start the exploitation of the mines found in the towns of Cerro del Andévalo and Cortegana (Lomero-Poyatos), once the Junta de Andalucía has given the nod to all the legal requirements. The company hopes to start this activity in 2012.

This was revealed following a meeting between company representatives and the Association of Metallurgical Mining and members of the PSOE in Huelva such as the Minister of Environment of the Andalucía Board, José Juan Diaz Trillo and vice president of the congress and member of the PSOE Federal Committee, Javier Barrero.

The Minister emphasized the “Andalusia government’s commitment to the startup of mining in the province of Huelva” and also pointed out that this new phase of mining in the XXI century is marked “by social and environmental responsibility.”
